Problems with my PS2 mouse. Please help!

I have a 2-button scroll mouse made by KeyMouse. I have problems with it like when I scroll up, it will go up one or two clicks and then start going down, then go up again, so I essentially go nowhere. I figured I would try installing my drivers for it (yes, my mouse has a driver disk). During installation, it asks for you type of connection, so I chose PS2. It then tells me that it cant detect a PS2 mouse or my registry has errors in it. So I ran the hardware wizard, and the mouse didnt come up as having a problem. But if I choose serial or USB during installation of the drivers, it will let me install them. Can anyone help? TIA
