Problems with my 17" widescreen

I bought a 17" widescreen LCD made by Westinghouse the other day for a computer I just finished. And it looks awesome until I try and play Empire Earth, it goes through the adds and opening video, then when it goes to the Menu the screen goes black and I get get an "out of range" message. My video card is a 9200 so it should be able to handle the game as it did fine on the other computer I had it on. Any suggestions are welcome.

The monitor won't support whatever resolution the game is trying to default to in the menu, I would assume.
What resolution does the monitor run at maximum?

I remember Civ3 would automatically select the highest refresh rate my monitor could support when it would run. The problem with this is that if you have the "Plug and Play Monitor" drivers installed, the maximum refresh rate for say, 1024x768 is something ridiculous like 120Hz.

After I installed the proper monitor drivers that specified what its maximum refresh rate was, the game started up fine. You might have to install your specific monitor drivers if you haven't already so EE can pick up the proper maximum refresh rate for your LCD.

Either the resolution or refresh rate is out of range. My guess is EE is a DX game. Force 60 Hz using the 'dxdiag' (enter in to start menu run) program. It's on the last tab, advanced, or something like that.

ok, thanks using the "Dxdiag" I got it runnging but now the menu is only about 5/6 on sceen and part is offscreen however when I get into the game everything runs fine. If anyone has got an advice I would appretiate it.
