Problems with Multiplier with E8400

Ok I've had this computer built from DigitalStormz and for 4 months I did not see any troubles. I'm running on 32bit Windows Vista. I was thinking about upgrading my memory when I noticed that after I used the cpuz test, it said my core speed was at 2ghz. After getting some advice on how to adjust it in the bios (the bios was set at x6 with speed step disabled), I tried adjusting it to x9. Problem is after it loads and everything comes out, it freezes and then restarts again. The highest I can adjust to without the computer freezing and restarting is at x7. BUT the issue is somewhat different this time. It occasionally jumps back to x6. If you're asking about temperature, it's fine. I think it was at 33 Degrees Celsius. Sorry I'm not very computer literate and was hoping someone can provide some help or insight on getting this issue fixed.

You might want to disable C1E in your bios.

The E8400 will default to 6x with light loads. I would not keep C1E disabled after you are done playing around they are designed to go down to 6x. You most likely have bios settings not optimized for the 9x higher FSB speeds. Look over your settings and check your DDR volts and CPU VCore first. I would also hope that DigitalStormz would not have locked it at 6x on purpose. Not sure what MB you have but talk to others with your MB and get all the info you can............

Just seen your screen shot and CPUZ shows the core volts below 1v thats too low and I bet the setting in bios is in auto or something. Watch CPUZ when you load the machine and see what changes, core volts, MHZ, multiplier,etc.........
