problems with MS movie maker

Is there any way to re-install windows movie maker or fix this problem? Every time I create a movie the progress bar freezes at the 1/3 mark, no matter which quality setting I select or what my source is (avi, mpeg, wmv, etc...). Strange thing, it actually worked the first time I tried it several months ago.
My OS is WinXP Pro.
