problems with MPC

After I installed Service Pack 2 for XP Home, Media Player Classic has had some problems:

1.) The volume control works, but whenever you try to move to another point in the song/video, it always goes back to full volume.

2.) When I skip to a different point in a video, the player hangs for a second on a black screen, then when the picture appears it goes at like 2 or 3 times the normal speed for a second or two, after which it plays normally.

3.) When I maximize the player, the audio continues to play, but the video freezes... and the only way to unfreeze it is to close the player and restart.

I've already tried different versions of MPC, as well as reinstalling sound drivers... with no sucess.

So WTF did SP2 do to my beloved MPC?!?!?
