I just got back to school and now my monitor is all out of whack. The color is all washed out and horrible. I have an Athlon system with a Nforce mx400 with dual output. regular monitor and then DVI for the LCD monitor. I got a 15" refurb gateway LCD monitor (FPD1500).

there was a problem when I was pluggin the Monitor into the back of the computer i guess it was turned on because the monitor plug hit the back of the case and sparked. now the screen is all messed with color. I hope my monitor isnt totally fried as my college student bank account is at its usual low.

If you got any suggestions let me know I can answer any questions you got over PM if you prefer

thanks - leigh

I have found that there are a lot of dead pixels, is there any way to fix this or should I just send it somewhere. I it going to be worth it to send it back fo repair?

They really aren't dead pixels.
It is dust spots that happen in the manufacturing/assembly process and the particular pixels are blocked.
Most manufacturers allow up to 2% as long as they are more than 10-15mm apart. (all do not guarantee pixel loss)

No. No way to fix.
