Problems with latest Adobe Flash Player?

Hello. Is anyone experiencing any problems with the latest Flash update (14.0.0.176)? I'm using Windows 7 HP with Internet Explorer 11. Most of the times on Youtube the files will not open and there is empty space where the video should have been.

Have not seen that. Have you tried uninstalling flash player, updating video drivers and reinstalling flash?

I quit allowing Adobe Flash updates last month. It brings too much PUP baggage and I find no real need for it.

An interesting thing to try is use the Chrome browser because it has it's own internal version of flash player. That's not foolproof either, but one or the other should work if the file isn't corrupted.

So I have tried Waterfox and Flash is playing well there.

Trying to unistall Flash I get a warning to close Internet Explorer ---- which is closed. Obviously something went wrong. How can I unistall it now?

Thanks Chiefcrowe. As you were writing this I was doing it.
I rebooted the computer , unistalled and reinstalled flash and everything is working perfectly.

Before I installed flash I went to Youtube and I found out that I was able to play the files without Flash. Can anyone explain how is this possible?

Youtube now supports HTML5 video which requires no plugins. Eventually I imagine most websites will support this but we'll still need Flash for a while for certain sites.

Most videos on youtube can be played in HTML 5 instead of flash.

Can't all videos use the HTML5 player now? I've yet to find one that doesn't over the past few months (in Chrome) or does it depend on your browser (codec support)?

Chrome comes with it's own internal flash player. I think (?) they call it pepperflash.

I've been fighting my with unresponsive scripts for over a month. I tried to disable Flash Player in Firefox 31.0, that is not an option. I just uninstalled Flash Player using Adobe's utility. I've got control of my computer and browsing again. I'll try living without it.

As long as you uncheck the optional additions to your download at get.adobe.com, you won't get any PUPs.

You have to remember, you were already infected with malware, and when you went to download Flash Player, you were intercepted and tricked with fake updates that contained PUPs.

Normal users won't get that problem.

i use chrome with no other flash plugin . videos plays but the sound is less . any method to increase the sound . ??(all windows sound is on high)

With the number of security vulnerabilities that regularly pop up in Flash, you must either keep it up-to-date or get rid of it. Avoiding Flash updates isn't some "middle ground"--it's recklessness.

(And as discussed in the other thread, the problems that you had seen with the updates was the result of downloading from unofficial/fake sources.)
