Problems with internet connections

I have a linksys router (wrt54gsv4), and haven't really had any problems with it until now. I am not sure if this is a router problem or a problem with my computer but for the past week or so my internet connection keeps getting disconnected, the internet will work just fine for a few hours, but after that I get disconnected and I am not really sure why. I bought a new network card to see if that was the source of the problem, but same thing, after a few hours the connection died. I don't know if this is enough info for you network gurus to assess the problem, so let me know what else is needed and I will post it when I am able to.

I had the same problem it seems like. I even had the same router. My parents switched the router to a wireless modem and it hasn't done it since.

if its the router you might want to try a restore default settings reset and if that dont help I would get the newest firmware and install it even if its the same version as you have now

My computers started disconnecting too, both wired and wireless. The wireless started first. I didn't troubleshoot until the wired deskstop started doing it. I looked at the System Event Log and saw TCP/IP entries that the network adapter was connecting over and over. In order to determine if it was the modem or the router, I disconnected the desktop from the router and connected directly to the modem. No more TCP/IP entries over and over in the system event log. Threw the old Dlink crap out and bought a new Buffalo, working fine ever since.
