I just got a Pioneer DVR-610B dvd burner, and I installed it today. I also have an asus dvd-rom drive that I''ve used for a year without problems. When I installed the drive, windows recognized it upon startup, but it replaced the dvd-rom for some reason. I assumed it was because of the way in which I plugged it in - the IDE cable runs from the asus dvd-rom and the pioneer dvd-rw (it has two sets of pins on one end) to the secondary IDE slot on my mobo. So, I disconnected it from the IDE cable with the asus and got a separate IDE cable for the pioneer. I moved the old cable with the asus into the IDE_primary slot in the mobo, and plugged the other IDE cable from the pioneer into the IDE_secondary slot in the mobo. Here's where it got wierd - upon startup, windows recognized both drives, and while the pioneer occupied the D drive and worked fine, the asus got kicked to the H drive and registered as a CD-ROM drive. Even stranger, it would read DVDs (if I put in a DVD I could go to H and see the data) but won't play them. As of now, I've disconnected the pioneer and set things back to the way they were before, just so I can play DVDs and music for the moment. Is there anything I did wrong/should try to get these two drives to work?
