Problems with IDE controller card

Hi,

I have a IBM PC 300PL 6565-E6U... specs are:
P3 700Mhz 256k cache (slot 1)
2x128Mb PC 133
GF 400 MX
13.7Gb 5400 RPM Deskstar
120Gb Seagate 7200.7 w/ 8mb cache
Highpoint Rocket 133 controller card
CDROM + Floppy
SPI 180 mATX powersupply
**note BIOS updates are not available/existant for the MoBo***

Trying to install the Highpoint card gives me little success. The reason I need to is because the BIOS does not recognize all of my 120 Gb HDD. The Board uses a VIA 133 chipset, with a VT82C596B Southbridge. I have tried all the PCI slots on my Motherboard, but the BIOS does not recognize the card. When the card is recognized I would see a press CTRL+H screen being booted off the EPROM on the card. Since I am retiring the Deskstar, I need the BIOS to boot off the PCI controller card to use the 120GB drive. I have tested the Highpoint card in another rig and it works perfectly fine. Does anyone have any suggestions I have overlooked installing the card ? 🙂

Start by making sure you have the latest available BIOS on your mobo, then do the same for the Controller Card.

Reset your mobo BIOS to setup defaults if nothing else works, and try relevant changes one step at a time from that point.

You may also want to read the FAQ for the Rocket 133.
