problems with hpt 366 drivers

I have a Soyo 6ba +IV,PIII 450, Win2k, and two Maxtor ATA66 hard drives. I recently updated the HPT366 bios to v 1.28/the newest HPT366 drivers from the Soyo homepage, and now I am having problems using my ATA66 hard drives. I cannot transfer large files between them or the computer will lock and continue seeking the hard drives. I tried to revert to old bios version and use different driver versions but the problem still exists. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance.

emm i am using hpt366 in my abit board too...but u never notice there is a new driver for it. In the abit webside the lattest is 1.25 version...and it runs rock solid in my mobo.

Yeah, I found out the same thing. Unfortunately Soyo recommends that you update both driver and bios to 1.28 otherwise "compatibility issues may occur". I also tried using the 1.25 drivers in combination with the 1.28 bios version (along with all the other bios versions) and I have the same problems. But thanks for your input.
