Problems with Halo: Combat Evolved

Hey guys. I just bought Halo for the PC. I installed the game and when I attempted to start the game, I was prompted with a message saying that I don't have enough RAM to run the game and to close down other programs (no other programs were open) to play the game.

But I have 4 GB of RAM! Plenty of RAM! More than enough. Why am I getting this message and what can I do to fix it? I also have a GeForce 9800. I'm running Vista Ultimate, 64 bit.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I read that it is supported. Other people said they played it on 64 bit w/o a problem.

If it is like the latest medal of honor, it may detect anything above ~3.25GB of ram as 0GB of ram, which is just awesome.

Trying going down to 2GB and see what Halo says.

This a known issue that is cured by patching the game to the latest version.

I had same problem with FreeSpace 2 - solution was to set compatability mode for Win98/ME
