My buddy just bought a cheap GF2 GTS card to replace his V5 in his CUV4X/PIII 800 sys.
when he installs the card with so far 3 different sets of drivers the computer is locking up, not even in 3d apps, just doing anything.. sometimes even after 2 minutes of sitting at desktop.
I have tried almost everything there is to try on his system and am beginning to come to the conclusion something is wrong somewhere.. he is running a cheap ATI card right now cause he sold his V5 already (bad decision) and the computer runs fine with the ATI and did with the V5 too. We have tried drivers 6.31, 12.90, and the new Det XP's, all with the same problems, the video card is literally a no-name card and the box just says GeForce2 GTS... (also bad decision probably)
I have tried moving AGP 4X to 2X, same deal, tried different VIA drivers, tried different AGP software, everything I can think of...
I only wish the board had adjustments for AGP voltage... I thought about a BIOS flash but I doubt that'd help any.. (let me know if you think it will help)
If anyone has a lead on what might the problem be, or if you think the card is buggered like me, tell me what you think... thanks a ton... lates!
