Hope you guys can help me out.
I am having trouble with my dell e1405 laptop when using a 22'' Acer (AL2216W) monitor not displaying the desired native resolution (1680 x 1050) but instead 1024 x 768.
My laptop currently uses an Intel 945gm Chipset running on Vista Ultimate. I have installed the latest drivers from the dell website. I am however UNABLE to install the newest chipset from the Intel website. I have even installed the newest BIOS (A10) on my laptop and still nothing.
The monitor worked great on my desktop, but once i used it as an extended monitor my laptop doesn't see the native resolution. The funny thing is that when i initially plugged it in, somehow it did display the correct resolution on my monitor, but then i restarted the computer the resolution went back to 1024 x 768.
Now I've tried editing my gfx drivers, but realized that dell's drivers are old compared to the new intel drivers.
If there is anyone out there that can fix this, PLEASE HELP ME!
Thanks, Nick
