So I'm trying to install Need For Speed Most Wanted Black Edition. Each time the installation crashes when it tells me that I need DirectX 9.0c or better. I have this already done. One person suggested to go back to DX8.0 but I can't get it to do that. I have tried to trick XP into thinking that it has 8.0 installed but it just doesn't buy it.

What can I do to un/re-install DirectX 9.0c?
 
have you tried running DirectX Diagnostic Tool(dxdiag) to make sure DX9 is installed?
