Hello,

I just replaced my old 256 MB stick of PC2700 with a matched pair of VS512MBKIT400 memory. These are my specs:

Celeron D 2.66 Gig
ASUS P4P800SE motherboard
512 MB of Corair VS512MBKIT400

No overclocking
MAM set to auto
Performance set to Standard
BIOS memory setting by SPD

As soon as I installed the new memory in dual channel configuration my PC was re-booting itself and reporting memory errors from windows XP. I am wondering if the fact I am runnig a celeron D at 533 FSB makes trouble for the memory.

I also get the following errors:
A VPU recover error from my 9800 pro
Unreal tournamnet 2004 causes the PC to re-boot.

I have found if I run my PC with only one module of memory the system is stable. I am also finding the system more stable (no re-boots) with the memory installed 1 stick in slot 1 and 1 stick in slot 4. This does not alow for dual channel mode. Could it be possible I cannot support dual channel mode?

I ran the memtest 86 with both 256 MB sticks in the above configuration and got no errors.

These are my settings from CPU-Z (if I change the configuration to dual channel mode I cannot even run CPU-Z)

CPU intel celeron 330 2.66 GHz
Core speed 2665.4
Multiplier x20.0
FSB 133.3
Bus speed 533.1

Memory
Channels # Single
Performance mode enabled
Frequency 177.7 MHz
FSB:DRAM 3:4
CAS# 2.5
RAS# to CAS# 3
RAS# precharge 3
Cycle time 6

SPD Timings table:
Frequency 200 MHz
CAS# 2.5
RAS# to CAS# 3
RAS# precharge 3
Cycle time 8

Please help!

Hi,

Thanks very much for the reply,

My ASUS P4P800SE does nto have a 2.7 volt option. How about 2.65? Also what would the default memory voltage be.

Many thanks

If 2.65 is the max then try that. Default would be 2.5 or 2.6 depends on your mobo. That is strange, the Corsair is good ram. whats the "MAM" can you change that?

The MAM is a performance enhancer for the memory. I think it is what ASUS is calling intel's PAT technology. The option is to set it to auto or enabled, there is no off.

It is strange, I bought the Corsair because I was looking for trouble free memory. It is probably not the memory but how it works in my system. For some reason I cannot run in dual channel mode, but in single channel mode I am OK.

I will try upping the voltage and reply back.
