Problems with Comcast and fedora Linux

So I recently tried to install Fedora Core 2 on my box. The install went ok, once I worked around the stupid NIC problems. The kicker is I can't update an packages. the DLing on my computer is horrible, be it http, ftp, wget anything. I was installing FC2 for MythTV.

This isnt really a question, but more of questioning whether anyone else running linux(specifically FC2) had trouble with Comcast Cable (specifically in massachusetts).

I've never had any problems with speed using Linux and Comcast, it could simply be that the mirror you're using is slow or overloaded.

i've tried switching every possible variable. knoppix on the machine doesnt even work.

i even take out the router and connect direct to the modem. still no luck. it sucks.
