I have an Athlon 700 Mhz
Aopen AK72 mb (rev 1.10)
128 mb PC133 ram
S3 Stealth III (PCI version)
20 gig IBM HD
250 watt ps (have tried 300 also and it doesn't work either)

The problem is that when it cold boots into win98 or 2000 (dual boot) It locks up the first 3 times but each time it shows a little more of the logon screen (really wierd). Then when it gets in windows it usually crashes on mirc or netscape and I have to keep restarting it. Ive never seen anything like this before

BTW it is my brothers so i don't know what else he may have installed on it but that shouldn't be the problem since it doesn't work on 2 oses.

Thanks in Advance
Aaron

Doth thoust have thyne HardDrive Cache patch?

Hmmm that wouldn't explain Win2000...I was having similar issues so I downclocked to 550 (what my old CPU was) and re-installed windows and downloaded that patch and now I'm fine....

If you CPU is 700 or higher you can have issues..(hence my downclock)

But it shoudln't in Win2k....

Try a different stick of memory. I had problems similar to yours and it turned out to be a bad stick of ram.

HD Cache patch?? Don't know anything about that.

Do you have the latest bios?

Here..

You've installed the latest VIA drivers, right??

Here

It kinda also sounds like it could be heat related... What kind of cooling do you have setup?
