Problems with CDR

My friend bought a 4x4x24 Hi Valve CDR a couple days ago and is having problems with it. His computer will lock up evertime he tries to copy a CD. I checked for IRQ conflicts, and there were none, and I also had him change the buffer but that doesnt seem to be it. He says once or twice he got some error saying there was power failure.... almost like his RAM lost power and was reset. Does anyone have any ideas why this could be happening? I'll try to get more information from him on the specifics of that error.

Might not be hardware. Could be copy program incompatibilities. Good info on cdr at http://www.fadden.com/cdrfaq/

The error he is getting is "power on reset or bus device reset occured"........ I checked his device settings and his "
advanced power management support" isnt working properly, I dont know what that is. Any ideas?
