Problems with brand new Leadtek PX6600 GT

So my new system install went great, now that I have my motherboard. Not a single hitch, until I loaded UT2004 and 3dMark03. See pics HERE

Those are the only "games" I've loaded so far, but I suspect this is going to be across the board. So far I have tried plugging and unplugging the extra power ports on the motherboard with no luck. My system:

Leadtek PX6600GT TDH Graphics card
DFI Lanparty Ultra-D motherboard
Seasonic SuperTornado 400W PSU
Seagate 80GB 8mb cache HDD
NEC 3520A DVD/R/RW
1 GB Corsair Value Ram

I am not overclocking either the motherboard or the video card at this point.

Anyone got any ideas??? Do I have to RMA this thing?

yikes, run as little powered stuff as you can, or maybe try a different psu to rule out PSU
try a different motherboard to rule that out

maybe reinstall windows, making sure you load the correct shipset drivers, then the correct video drivers. jus try as much as u can, take it round a friends to test it out in a nother computer

if it is the card, then get on the dog n bone straight away for an RMA

In the interest of being thorough, I will try the PSU, though I am sure that is not the problem. I installed the driver that came with the card, so that is not the problem. About the only thing I can uplug is a fan and my DVD drive. It's a very simple system.

Whats the temp of the card.

Temp is at about 46c idle. I'm pretty sure it's not temp related, as the image fails when the game starts, not after I've been playing.

anyone? I think I'll RMA it tomorrow. Damn. This build has been a nightmare, had to RMA 2 DFI board cuz of packaging damage and now the video card. Quality assurance is non-existant these days.

I'd say the most usefull thing would be to try it out in a different computer, if possible.

I don't know why many people suggest re-installing windows😕 I've never had to re-install windows, ever, to get a video card to work.

Have fun waiting on the RMA from Leadtek. I've been waiting for my 6800GT from them for more then a month now. It's getting pretty sickening..

Hi Bonesdad! My name is RMA, and we'll be spending some time together....

😀

Don't sweat it man, sometimes hardware just shows up shot. I was building a new rig for my housemate two months ago and damned if his Epox motherboard didn't show up DOA. RMA'd to Newegg, got the new one a couple weeks later, and it's been humming along ever since.

Could've even been damaged in shipping. No way to tell.

Anyway, good luck getting it replaced, let us know how it turns out.

Overclocked/overheating/underpowered, are the most likely causes. Check the video card's PCB very carefully, though, for any damage, and most importantly, any missing capacitors that may have been sheared off. But if the mobo is problematic already, then the video card issues may simply be a symptom of that problem, rather than a problem in itself. I would definately test the card in another system if possible to make sure.
