Problems with audio

I recently purchased a Dell 4100 Dimension, it came with onboard audio. For some reason I had problems getting my ATI AIW to work with the onboard audio so I purchased a Aureal SQ1500. Before I installed the Aureal, I disabled onboard audio. Then, I installed the Aureal and the ATI TV works great (video, audio works fine). The only problem is, all other audio (Winamp, Movies, even my Yahoo Messenger telling me I have a new e-mail) makes the computer freeze and I have to do a cold shut down.

btw: I'm runing WinXP.....

Maybe I didn't fully disable onboard audio and when audio starts from anything but the ATI AIW, it locks up???

Any help??? Thanks!!!

Doesr your bios like mine have 2 places where one disables the "regular sound" stuff and another to disable the MPU-401/wave stuff? Mine has a spoit to reseve IRQ's and io addresses for the MPU-401, and with those still enabled, while selecting to disable onboard sound, it was still causing me problems, before I cleared the places that reserved the IRQ and IO address.
