problems with asus maximus formula

so i got an asus maximus formula on ebay(on a budget). and i also got a new retail intel core 2 quad q9300. problem is, it wont post. the LCD post display constantly says "CPU INIT" yet the cpu is brand new, right out of the box. anyone have an idea what could be wrong?

i have an older core 2 duo, but i think its fried from my old mobo. the computer starts, but just will not post no matter what.
 
nevermind, i figured it out. there's an actual broken pin on the socket. i should have known as to how it was shipped. no socket protector, and there were things in the bag with the motherboard(static bag).
