I've been doing baby steps for 3 years straight.

GAH!

Give me a problem that you have a dilemma with, and I will be glad to try my hardest to help you understand it.

Just to be the tiny positive voice out there, you aren't learning you if are aren't confused. If you keep up the hard work, it will eventually click into place.

If that doesn't confuse the OP more than his algebra homework, I will be surprised.

Way to be a grammar Nazi there :p I probably deserved it though. It's fixed in the aforementioned post.

Haha sorry. I notice these little things.
Next time you mistype a post, I will let some other grammar Nazi get a hold of you. :)

OP is pissing me off. What do you want? Us to just agree with you? Or maybe tell you how wrong you are and how you're a really smart kid and to hang in there? Jesus, people are giving you suggestions of going in and asking for help and you're responding like a prick with "read the thread." What the hell should we do OP?

Actually, what you've done is whip yourself into a frustrating frenzy each time you approach a problem you couldn't solve before. I'm not saying that you're not trying hard enough but if after three years you can't solve the simplest of algebra problems then it's no wonder you can't solve the examples you provided earlier.

You seem to have the hardest time with dealing the different sides of the equations as wholes. They're not. You need to learn to solve for one thing and only one thing starting off.

This may sound condescending (and I hope you don't take it this way) but perhaps you should brush up on your multiplication and division rules involving fractions. I think this would help you out alot.

I pretty solid in fractions, but when there is a variable in combination with 5 other methods of solution, i go crazy.

Okay here is a problem I've been trying to do (I made it up, not part of HW.)

x over 3/12*4 + y over 6/15 - 32j

I understand stuff like 5x+4y+x (6x+4y right?) but the advances stuff...

word problems are ridiculously hard too.

That is not an equation.
This is:
5(3x-5y) = 5(3j-4y)
15x-25y = 15j-20y
15x-15j-5y = 0
Done, although that is a pretty pointless problem; assuming it's asking you to simplify.

What exactly are you trying to solve? You don't have an equation, only an expression with a few meaningless variables.

Exactly. That's how skilled I am.

what is the book asking you to do? simplify the expression?

So give us a beginner problem that you can't solve. And how about one that involves an equal sign?

Put your problems here on a daily basis with explanation of your attempt and I promise I will help you with at least a few problems every day. If you really care to get better, I'm sure others will pitch in, but post the problems with an attempt as a poster above said in his offer to help. Once we see that you tried and are willing to learn, we will help you.

Really? Okay I'll post some problems on Tuesday or Wednesday that I am trying to work on now.

I don't understand how I have a 101% in Algebra. I feel like I am being cheated.

Yes. As long as you're showing that you're putting an effort towards it, someone will help you, just have to ignore those who make jokes.

Noobtastic: You seem like a very bright individual. Something's not right here. Did your parents beat you with equations when you were a baby?

Seriously, it sounds like some kind of a block. Try the math dept. at a university. The right professor would take on your math 'inabilities' as a challenge.

Algebra is like human genetics. When you're dealing with all Xs everything is okay. As soon as you add a Y everything get f%&#ed.
