Problems with a scratched CD!!

I rented a copy of madden 2001 for my PS2 today and i noticed it was scratched and thought nothing of it. I put it in my PS2 and the intro video played fine and then it went to the loading screen and the bar filled ( the bar that fills up as the game loads, so you know when its done) and then nothing happens it just stays at the loading screen. Ive tried cleaning the cd with some different substances but no luck! The scratches are not very big or deep so im kinda confused.

yikes.. you can get a buffer "kit" that basically polishes down the surface of the cd and removes scratches.
 
ya but i dont want to spend some extra $$$ just to fix some rented copy, maybe if it was my cd but its not. Any other idea?
 
oh.. doh! skimmed the post, didnt see that it was rented.

hrmm.. drop it in the overnight box and call it a day. 🙂
 
Don't waste your time and money trying to fix something that you rented. Go back to the store and complain like hell until you get a couple of free rentals and a free bag o' popcorn 😉
 
haha, would of already complained but store closed at 8:00 (christmas day) and all i wanted to do was play madden :| !!!! ok so i guess i wont be playing it :frown:
anyone have anything that worked for them just using a few old fashioned household products?
 
Yes complain quick but make sure your careful cuz they could try blaming you if you dont show up right away when it opens! 😉
 
im gonna be sure to do that but i just want to play madden ARGHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thats all, sh1t!! ok well if anyone had anything to add to this IE - a method to fix my cd pls just post it here!!!
 
I heard that rubbing/polishing toothpaste over the scratched surface can be a quick fix. I have NOT tried this and I DON'T know if this really works, but, "eh, it's a rental."
 
Yes Madden 2001 is the best game I've played for PS2 so far, in fact I love the game so much I think I'm going to go buy it for the PC and a gamepad for it also...
 
toothpaste did not work, i rubbed it all over the cd surface and then washed it off. I looked over the cd more closely and there is ALOT of scratching. All the scratches are not very deep or do not "appear" to be very deep exept for one which isnt even that big. Its not like a normal scratch its more of a white mark.
