PROBLEMS WITH 128MB DIMMs and INTEL SE440BX-2

For some reason, when I use three 128MB SDRAM DIMMs, the OS complains about not being able to read a memory location. I can use two (I interchanged them to make sure one was not bad) and everything works fine, but when I put in the third, I get that memory error. Any suggestions? The memory is 128MB PC-133 low density SDRAM.

i believe in older chipsets that support 3 or more dimmm slots, to use 3 dimm slots, you can have 2 dimms that are double sided but the 3rd stick then MUST be single sided to be read properly

All 3 DIMMs I'm using ARE single sided. Is there a chance that my OS is using the very upper address locations for something else? Any way to check that. I did another troubleshooting step and tried to put in 2-128MB DIMMs along with a 64MB DIMM and it works-the system recognizes 320MB of physical memory. Another clue is that after trying the three 128MB DIMMs, and getting the error, when I remove one and replace it with a 64MB DIMM, I get the BIOS informing me that physical memory has DECREASED. Seems like the BIOS knows that there is 384 when three 128s are installed, but the OS (Windows XP professional) is somehow not liking it. Please help if you can, I know this is a really tough one!
