Problems while using bit torrent.

For some reason whenever I start up my utorrent client regardless of what speed my uploads or downloads are at I can no longer browse with an internet browser. What's going on here?!?

Should I change the port it's using?

Probably too many connections open. Set them very low and see if it still happens.

JUst set it so that it won't take all of your bandwith.

It happens regardless of upload speed...or download speed.

Basically the second after I turn on utorrent internet pages don't seem to load anymore...

This fixed it for me. I always forget to reinstall it after formatting though.

Do you also lose internet connectivity if you leave your computer on for a while without actively browsing?

Are you using ZoneAlarm? If not, which firewall are you using?

I used to have the same issue while using Azureus but also when leaving my computer alone for periods of time over an hour or so. It turned out to be a firewall setting. You might want to look into that side of it.

I am at work right now but when I get home I can tell you exactly what to check for in ZoneAlarm. It wasn't under program control as far as I can recall. I did find the solution at the ZoneAlarm forums, for what it's worth.

My box NEVER loses internet connectivity now. I thought it was an issue with my router too, but it was ZA all along.

This is the info that fixed the issue for me (ZoneAlarm version 6.5.737.000):

In the "Firewall" settings and under the "Zones" tab, I have 2 entries. The first is my network adapter with the Entry Type as "Adapter Subnet". This zone should be set to "trusted".
The second entry is "Loopback adapter" and the entry type is "IP Address". This zone should also be set to "trusted".

Previously, one of the zones was set to "Internet" and for one reason or another was causing loss of connectivity after prolonged periods of non-use.
