Just got my G400 in yesterday.....and on the very left side it looks like there has been a magnet placed by it. It's like a faint dark green color and you can only notice it against lighter colored backgrounds. I've tried degaussing it but it doesn't really seem to help. Do I just keep trying to degauss it and it will eventually take care of itself? Should I send it back to sony and get a different one or is this a small enough problem to fix...I spent the extra money for a Sony so I wouldn't have problems like this, what's going on??

Most likely a bad monitor, unless you have a magnetic source nearby. I assume the distortion is independent of where the monitor is... try rotating the monitor on the swivel base to see if the suspected defect changes.

Otherwise pony up cuz you'll have to pay return shipping to get it fixed.

Oh yea, it does clear up when I swivel it to a totally odd rotation (that I know I can't live with). Does this mean there is hope if it clears up like that? There is no magnets nearby (I have one of the klipsh promedia sat's right by it, but I doubt those do anything)...what now?

I'm having the same problems with my g400 too. I have a yellowish tint on the bottom right hand corner. Swiveling it helps some times and degaussing works for about a day. What is wrong with it and how should i go about fixing/getting a new one?

Thanks

I think in your case the screen came loose so to say. It's not unheard of. That is why you see teh two faint line those are wires taht keep th screen in place. THis would also explain why you get a beteter picture when you tilt it. :)

I'll bet it is the magnetic field from the speakers. Have you tried moving the speakers well away from the monitor?

I moved a monitor to my son's computer and the next day was horrified to see bilateral greenish color distortion. Nothing fixed it. Finally, I moved the speakers to get to the back of the monitor. The distortion was completely gone when the speakers were off the table.

Give it a try.
