Problems w/ NIC turning on and off, no network

Hey Guys,

I just built a nice AMD system: 1.4 T-Bird, (not overclocking, the freq settings are 133x11) Epox 8k7a+ MoBo, 512MB Crucial CL2.5, Gainward GeForce3, Linksys LNE100TX WOL NIC, Sparkle 400W PSU, 2x Seagate Barracuda III ATA in RAID0 using the onboard controller, Linksys 4port DSL Router/Switch, DSL connection.

Just installed Win 2K Pro, and I'm having troubles with networking. First of all, the lights on the router keep going on and off intermittently, at like 2 second intervals or so. I've tried replacing the NIC with another, and moved them around in the PCI slots. No luck. In the OS, I can't access the network, and all other computers on my network are connected fine. The network properties are configured correctly as far as I can tell. I'm stumped. 😕 I'm leaning toward a motherboard problem.

One other small problem I had with the MoBo is that the power header for the HSF died after working for a while. So now, I'm using a 4pin molex connector to power the HSF. I'm wondering if something on the board maybe got fried?

What do you guys think?
Thanks.

I had a bad power supply fan in a computer that caused it to loose the network every so often with apparently no reason. Finally the fan died completely and the power supply heated up and lost the network connection all together. Everything else worked fine, it just lost the network.

Put a new fan in PS and network card has been working for 2 months now.

I agree with the cable problem... A cable not wired properly (So that it uses the shielding) has problems like these all the time! We have tested it, and they need to be wired to standard
