Problems w/ MSI Neo2-FR (onboard sound, etc)

This board arrived 2 days ago along with a retail e8400. I have been loading everything onto this new system and testing it the past 2 days.

For the life of me I can't get the computer to recognize the onboard audio! It does not come up in Device Manager or in the Sounds/Audio Devices in control panel. I've never had a problem like this with a motherboard. I installed the MSI provided Realtek HD Audio drivers, but no luck.

Anybody help me troubleshoot this?

Another issue: a lot of the motherboard's LEDs stay lit up while its running fine in WinXP Pro (i.e. LEDs showing system is power-on, is in standby mode, and that operating system is booting). ALL of them are on, even as I am writing this. What is that about?

I was having these same issues so I flashed to BIOS v1.83, but still have the same exact problems. When the BIOS is loading it still says version 1.1.0xxx or whatever, but I confirmed it is 1.8B3 in the BIOS. The flash utility finished just fine with no hicups.

Someone help! I'm getting frustrated here...

BTW - It overclocks real nice and stable. Pushed it up to 4GHz for a while (Prime95 load temps went to 58C max), but brought it back to stock until I get these issues figured out.

You might have to install the Microsoft HD Audio drivers first. Try windows update

It is enabled in the BIOS. I just downloaded and reinstalled the latest version of Realtek's HD Audio drivers (1.85), no luck.

I am running WinXP Pro SP3, if that makes any difference.

I have been searching for others with similar problems to mine and I think it is an issue with XP SP3 not recognizing the Realtek hardware correctly.

Anyone have any idea how I can get SP3 to recognize the device properly? Any patch, etc??

OK, I just downloaded and installed MS Hotfix KB835221, then reinstalled the Realtek HD Audio drivers. Everything works perfectly now!
