Problems w/ MSI KT Pro2a

I'm running a duron 700mhz and the MSI KT Pro 2a. The multiplier settings in the bios don't seem to be acting correctly. 7.5 works, 8 acts like 7, 8.5 acts like 7.5, and above that it won't reset on its own. I unlocked the processor with a circuit writer pen and it looks like it worked. I also know the processor can handle up to 840mhz through adjusting the FSB. What am I doing wrong? I'd like to be able to OC with multiplier more effectively.
 
If you can't get the multiplier to change correctly then that means that you haven't connected the bridges properly. I had the same problem. Just keep going over the bridges, making sure that they are well connected. If when you change the multiplier and reboot you dont get the desired speed, you'll have to go over the bridges again. This is exactly what happened to me. And that is exactly what i did to fix it. And now it works.
 
It is not necessarily the bridges although it could be, I have a Tbird on an MSI K7TPro2a that has the bridges intact from factory and the multipliers are screwy, but I Am not complaining since at 12.5 mine boots at 1300 with no bus overclock, so I like it till we get some more multipliers, I have read other posts stating same error. like Gothmoth suggested if there is a new bios (2.1) I would try that first.

I am running the same setup you are. I am able to get to 850 with a slight voltage increase. When I went to 900, I had to reset the CMOS to get it to reboot. I have not screwed around with it much more, because I don't have time.

I did have to go into mine and remark the bridges the first time.
 
And here is an even better one, mine likes less voltage for overclocking serious,I have had system lock at a speed i am trying and take it down notch and it boots fine. This is all new since I am used to Abit boards which more vcore more better😉 😉11
