Just built my first puter three days ago...worked OK minus some minor teething problems, but then I tried to boot up this morning after turning it off last night, and the fan only gives a *slight* whirr. I first thought the PS was bad, but I did the PS test by connecting pin 14 and 16 on the PS cord thingy and the PS runs just fine-the fans run full power, the other components make sounds, etc.

So now, whats left? I just got the Mobo-and i dont think its the mobo-but what would I check? I dont have another mobo to just swap it with to check. Anything else to check for likely culprits? My components arent that much-a 32x CDrom, 633 celery, zip, floppy, 8 meg TNT 2, and a NIC and cheap Soundcard. Thats it...

Any suggestions?

Help is greatly appreciated. My GF is going to kill me if I dont get her xmas present working soon. :)

Make sure that the mobo isn't touching anything metal, it could short it out. Take everything out; leaving only one dimm (if you have more than one) and the vid card in there. See if it boots. Put the pieces in one at a time, but make sure evrything seems ok with just the vid card and memory in there before adding stuff. You may also want to try holding down the insert key or removing the jumper for the bios to set all the biso settings to default, and see if that boots it.
