I've been looking at Infiniti G35s and Acura TLs/TSXs and I finally went to test drive an '05 G35 6MT today. WOW, this car is fast. This is coming from a '96 Honda Accord 5MT.

The car I tested is here.

Tire tread looks fine, and I'm very surprised with the amount of backseat and trunk space that the G35 has. The most surprising thing was how FAST it actually was.. But right now I'm worried about the mileage of this specific vehicle. What problems should I expect to encounter with mileage this high?

I was also looking at '05 G35x-s but I'm stuck on the extra speed and 6MT...
 
I have a Nissan with a 6 Speed 3.5 VQ (02 Max). The only issues I've had was shitty oem rotors and just recently (115K miles) I needed to add brake fluid. Our next car will probably be a G37 Sedan or a G8 GT.

How many miles on the Honda? Those should run for a good 15 years 200K + miles. My last Maxima was donated at 215K miles and it was still running strong.
 
that asking price seems a bit low to me. then again powerful rwd cars may not sell as well there as they do here.

That asking price seems reasonable. If that was a COUPE, now THAT would be low!
 
75 is getting up there if you intend to keep it for a long time.

You'll have the same issues as with any high miled car, from sensors to brakes, etc. It's up to you whether you want to deal with them, and they won't be crazy in that car, but they'll obviously be more numerous than with a new car, so make sure it's cheaper.

 
As for "high mileage", that all depends on the maintenance that car received and the care it'll get as time goes on, with ANY car. I've seen engines destroyed in less than 30K miles because the oil was never changed and I've also seen the opposite, Herb Gordon's '66 Volvo 1800S with 2 million miles on it but that guy takes extremely good care of his car. I think (almost) any car today can go 200K+ IF it's well maintained.
 
The best way to get a ton of miles out of a car is to maintain it religiously and drive it. A car with 75k on it over 3 years will probably be running better than a car that's 6 years old with 60k.
 
Have 122k on my 03.5 G35 sedan. Only issues I've had is the headunit/climate controls going out. I replaced it with an aftermarket double din so no big deal. Other than that, just tires and rotors, nothing major.
 
I have 74k on my '03 Maxima (same basic powertrain) and haven't had any issues with it. Other than the crappy brakes of course.
