"I don't really care if the case on my Nano gets scratched but my screen has scratched up so badly that all the images are starting to become distorted," Cason wrote, echoing the sentiment of many others in the discussion. "I have only carried it in my small pocket in my shorts and nothing is in there to scratch it. I still can't figure how the screen looks like it has been rubbed with sandpaper when the entire time it has been safe in my pocket (with absolutely no items)."

The price one pays to be an early adopter.

Edit: I still don't agree with what you did. But that is for a different thread.

Come back when you take Econ 101, when you understand the basic concepts of a warranty.

Come back when you take Engineering 101, when you understand the basic concepts of good engineering and design.

Are these scratches caused by contact with foreign objects or are they microcracks in the plastic that are forming on their own?

They are caused by normal use... such as putting the ipod in the pocket.. or using your t-shirt to wipe the screen.

[lawyerspeak=on]So it's safe to say this is an end user issue and idemnifies the manufacturer of warranty obligation.[/lawyerspeak=off]

hypothetical situation:
virtualgames didn't return his ipod, and the screen cracked after 3 more days, then he goes to return it..
[lawyerspeak=on]That was your fault, you abused your ipod. The warranty doesn't cover physical damanges. Have fun with your $215 junk[lawyerspeak=off]

Link to Virtualgames0's original thread about the nano

Its great you were able to return it.

So what if there are other people that have the same problem? You're lucky you were able to return it... I highly doubt everyone will be able to.

This is a first gen product. Its redesigned from the ground up. Sure it plays mp3s and has a product name of iPod. The materials and manufacturing processes are probably different. No product in its first generation is going to be without a flaw or defect.

Nice of virtualgames0 to use "warranty" and "return policy" interchangeably. No wonder he got flamed the first time around!

Oh please.. and they both carry the same economical principle - to give consumers a risk-free purchase.
Maybe if you didn't try to find every way you can think of to belittle me, you would have thought of that.
