Problems seeing network in win2k!!!

OK my nic went crazy today, when I was uninstalling norton AV (long story)
anyways it couldn't get an ip address. so I uninstalled tcp/ip and reinstalled it.
I get an ip address and can surf the net but can see any local computers or the exchange server.

when I goto network identification under system properties I can only change the computer name. everything else is greyed out.
any ideas on what I can do to get this back in the workgroup?

Whenever things are greyed out in Win2K it makes me think privileges. Could the account been removed from the Admin group? Just a shot in the dark.
