Problems reading DVD+RW's in WinXP

I have a NEC ND-1100A DVD-writer, which WinXP (SP1) identifies as a DVD-rom/CD-RW drive. When I load an empty DVD+RW into the drive Windows shows 4.7GB free space as it should (but I guess as a big CD, not a DVD), and burning on the DVD with the latest version of Nero is no problem. The problem is that windows continues to see the disc as blank (Nero Info shows, that the disc is NOT empty)!!

Any ideas on how to make Windows read the contents correctly???

I will try if the problem is the same with a DVD+R, but I suspect it will be.

Windows doesn't really care that it's a DVD, other than identification, to the OS, it's just a removable disc with either lots of free space, or some data on it -- not a "big CD". I assume that you've removed the disc then put it back in. What format are you burning with Nero? Are you just burning data files, or creating a certain type of DVD?

I have just been burning data files, and asked Nero to close the session.
Correct, I have removed the disc, and put it back in. Also tried rebooting and reading it again - same result.
