ok, for a time now, several games have just crashed to desktop on me. I can't remember all the ones that have now, but Hostile Waters, Settlers 3, Settlers 4, Half-life 2 just quit and goto desktop. In settlers it only seems to happen randomly, in Hostile Waters only when i load a game. in HL2 randomly. Also, once when i went to run Hostile Waters, an error popped up saying "DirectDraw Enumerator Problem/Error". Does this mean it's only messing up in Direct3D games, ie not OpenGL?

rig is
msi k7n2 delta-ilsr
athlon xp 3200+
seagate 120 GB sata

Audigy 2 ZS
Sapphire Atlantis Radeon 9600 Pro
512MB Crucial PC3200 DDR-RAM
Q-Tec PSU 400W PFC ( btw what does PFC mean? ) <----

All my parts are running at standard speeds. I'm thinking this is either a memory or graphics card problem. Could anyone help me out with this?

i'm not sure about the nforce2 drivers, anyone have a link? this is a comp that has no internet access. oi've been using directx 9.0c pretty much since it was released

I am trying to reinstall it too (Hostile Waters) after a few years and I get the same error. Running XP SP2 on my P4P800, P4-3.0 and 6800 newest official drivers.

I'd like some ideas/help if anyone has any.

Fixed it with Hostile Waters..

Had to set both the setup program and executable to Win98 compatibility mode. It would then run without the error, but said it couldn't find the proper CD even though it was in the drive. So I had to find the no CD crack and it now seems to work OK.

So, I suppose it is largely an XP issue with this older game.

yeah but i am getting this with newer games aswell. i just listed hostile waters as an example. also, i DO have latest directx and mainboard drivers
