problems printing from word (spooling error)

I have a computer that has been printing very well to a laser printer via usb but recently when I try to print a word document of any size it just stays stuck on "spooling." I tried reinstalling the printer, restarting and other fixes like that but it doesn't work. It can print from excel, picture viewers, firefox etc and even when I make very short (one sentence) word documents. What do you think?
 
As an additional note, I can share the printer fine but when that printer tries to print long word documents I get the same problem but excel or firefox prints fine...
