Problems Opening Firefox 1.0PR

Having problems opening Firefox 1.0PR at all. I had it working great, updated one of my old extentions (which was the Bookmark Synchronizer extention) and then when I open Firefox at all, it gives me this:

Sorry for the large image, 1600x1200 resolution here.

As you can see, the webpage doesn't come up and I can't click on any of the toolbars nor any of the buttons. The only thing I can do is minimize and close out of Firefox. It still shows this even if I let it sit there.

I've completely uninstalled (deleted the root directory even) and reinstalled (copied profiles folder over, but still same problem). I even uninstalled, deleted, and reinstalled without copying the profiles folder over but it still kept my extentions. I thought about deleting the Mozilla folder in Regedit but the only folder there is Mozilla.org.

Here are my extentions from 0.9 and I've installed a couple others as well as some of these don't work in 1.0 PR yet.

Thanks for any help

I think the same problem happened to me. I deleted the chrome.rdf as described at this site:
Unofficial Mozilla Support

"Mozilla won't run / start at all?

Especially when using Windows 95 but also 98 and ME, it is possible that nothing happens (besides maybe the splash screen showing) when you try to start Mozilla. This problem is difficult to diagnose. It can be due to the file XUL.mfl being corrupted. With Mozilla not running, delete the file and restart Mozilla.

Another reason for this may be themes or extensions. If you have recently installed a theme or an extension or if you had them installed and Mozilla quit working after the upgrade, they may be the reason. A fix for that is deleting the file chrome.rdf with Mozilla not running. The file is in your profile's chrome folder. Please note that you will lose local themes and extensions when deleting this file."

I already deleted the chrome.rdf file and tried it again, but this was in the actual chrome folder inside of the Program Folder. If I delete the chrome folder inside of the profiles folder I'll lose all of my extentions? That means I'll have to redo all of them?

Yeah, it quit working right after I update the Bookmarks Synchronizer extension.

Also, the chrome.rdf file is located in C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\chrome .. not in the profiles which is located in the ..Defaults\profile folder.

Well, it sure is secure 😉

If you're using a Limited user account, try running it with Administrator-level privileges by right-clicking it while holding the Shift key, then choose Run As... from the menu. The Powers That Be at work had us install Firefox on our work fleet and this is now a daily occurrence.

Out of curiosity, are you a fan of tabbed browsing or why are you using Firefox?

I love the tabbed browsing and I love the extensions and extras you can get from it that you can't get from IE.

I'm running on Administrator levels right now with this account (as this is a custom built PC) and I can run the program but I can't get any page to display nor can I click any of the options or buttons, with or without doing Run As.

What do you mean "it sure is secure? 😉"

By "secure," I mean that you're definitely safe from Web exploits, since the browser won't go anywhere 😉

So even uninstalling/reinstalling won't get it over the hump, huh? I sure hope none of our rigs decides to pull THAT stunt on me 😛 "Oh, just give me a few hours to re-image your system and then you can use the Internet..."

😛

Problem solved:

Firefox copies all preferences to C:\Dcouments and Settings\%username%\App Data\Mozilla\Default User \Profile .. etc

Delete chrome.rdf in there as well as any suspicious or corrupted extensions. Uninstall and delete the entire directory of Mozilla from your C:\ and then do a clean install. Hopefully it should work, worked for me. Thanks for the help though 🙂
