Problems Making cd's from MP3 files

I am new to the MP3 scene but have made several music CD's and am not happy with the results. First, is there a way to adjust the audio level using some software so that all songs on the CD are the same sound level and second, is there software that can be used to eliminate cracking sounds and popping sounds at the beginning of the MP3 files? Thanks

(Most) MP3 files don't have cracking sounds. If they do, it's either your sound card, speakers, or your ripping program (or, if you're downloading them like most people, the person who ripped it from the cd might've had a scratched up cd). Secondly, I think there's a winamp plugin or 2 which levels the volume of all songs. I tried one of them but there were too many options and I'm not too intelligent about complex audio settings, so I got rid of it 🙁
