Problems loading files in iTunes

I just downloaded a album from a source other than the iTunes music store and I am trying to open it in iTunes. The files are .mp3 files, and about two thirds of them load into my iTunes library just fine. The others will open iTunes when I double click them, but they don't show in the library and iTunes just does nothing other than open (or switch to its window if it's already open). Any thoughts on this or possible solutions?
 
Tried dragging them onto the iTunes window? I think it has to be onto the list of songs part (the big screen area, if you're in the default layout).
