Problems installing Vista

Hi. I'm trying to install vista on a new computer just built, everything turns on, the "starting windows" bar shows up, then immediately after the bar fills, I get a command prompt screen saying X://windows>system32> and it hangs there.

edit: Tried typing run and it says something like ^G^R^U
