I have recently noticed problems installing patches and running some programs, it would seem that during the install .exe files as well as .dll files have restriced access. i can manually go into the file and give it full control. I was wondering if maybe there is a universal setting to give all files full control to change information.

It should be no problem if you are logged on as Administrator. If you are logged on as something else, sometimes this problem occurs.

Unfortunetly, I am logged in as administrator. I still have the problem, I first noticed this occured when i attempted to play a dvd and dll access was denied to some of the dll files. This has since happened to DiabloII and also some self extracting install files I downloaded from the MS websits as well as autoinstall files from windows update (ones that should download and install automatically but won't because access is denied)

While logged on as an Administrator, you can change the settings of complete directories (including sub directories) I don't think you can do it to the whole drive at once, but you might. All the extra security options create extra security work. But it really isn't that difficult to fix, once you figure our the inane levels of mouse clicking required.
