Hello, I finished building a shuttle SS51 computer and am trying to install an operating system...
when I put the OS cd in the drive (tried both windows 98 and windows XP) and it tries to boot from them, it keeps getting a boot cd failure or
something like that... for some reason it says insert a system disk and press enter after that (even though there is an OS cd in the drive)
any advice?
thanks in advance

Make sure the jumpers on the CD drive are properly set and the drive is correctly recognized by the BIOS.

Make sure the CDROM is set as one of the boot options in the BIOS.

Make sure the CD itself is actually a bootable disc. I've seen lots of copies of Windows discs that will not boot. The original CD's should be bootable, however.

SS51's rock. I love mine. Not enough to marry it, however ;)

Also, check if CDROM is recognized when you boot, if not, check your connections first. If it still fails to boot, after checking on Workin's advice, use a bootdisk on a floppy and install Win98 from there. I had an original Win98 CD and for some reason, it wouldn't boot up fr that either, so that's what I did.
