Problems installing a G450...

This thing is driving me up the wall. Craps out my fresh W98 install on a Duron600/KK266 with 256mb RAM. Locks at 640x480x16x60. There's more flashing and sputtering when Windows boots than you can shake a stick at. I installed the 4.29 4-in-1's when I did the fresh install, upgraded the G450's bios in the approved manner, did all the mobo bios settings according to Matrox, installed the drivers in the approved manner, and uninstalled them, and reinstalled them. The G450 sits alone on IRQ11. But no joy. I've reviewed all the similar problems in the Matrox house forum, done all the things they suggest.

Anybody got any ideas?

Do you have Powerdesk enabled at startup? If so, maybe trying to take it out of startup from msconfig, I had a similar prob a while back with a set of matrox drivers, and for some unknown reason that cleared it up.
