Problems getting new HD to work

A few months ago I had problems with my old hard drive and had it fixed. The person who fixed it put in a new 184GB HD, also, I got to keep my old one where I still have access to it. I also have a smaller drive (60GB) put in that is currently my main one. I used up all the space and wanted to get access to the new 184GB drive.

Now I never used it up until now and it says I have to format it first. But when I go to format it, it stops at 50% and my computer freezes. I tried the quick format but it wont even get started and goes into the blue Windows error screen.

I tried formatting it by right clicking on the drive name and hitting format from there, and I also tried formatting it under the storage management, deleting the partition and doing it that way, but I get the same results.

Any help would be thankful.

I suspect it's actually a 200GB. Anything relevant noted in the event viewer? Since you haven't really used the drive before, i'd suggest that you start by downloading the diagnostic utility from the manufacturers website and running the drive through a full/complete/thorough test.

I looked in the event viewer but didn't see anything out of the ordinary. What should I be looking at specifically?

And I don't know who the manufacturer is cause I didn't install it. How would I go about finding it?

Im sorry for my newbness, but I don't really know what Im doing here.

Here is a pic of the drive managment screen.

Picture

Drice C is the main one I am using now, E is the new one Im trying to use, and G is my old drive that I still have access too.
