I'm having a bit of a problem getting my lan working the way I want it. I have 2 machines in the lan, connected by an 8 port Intel switch. The primary machine (with cable connection) is running Win2k Pro SP1, while the second pc is running Win98se. Currently, the LAN is working to a degree. I am able to ping both ways and have ICS working fine.
The problem comes with "My Network Places"(MNP) and "Network Neighborhood"(NN) (depending on which OS you are referring to). On the Win2k box, I am unable to get either box to show up in MNP. When I try and open up "Computers near me", it times out saying that the workgroup is not accessible.
On the win98se box, NN opens up empty (neither box shown). If I try and go to "Entire Network", it says it's "Unable to Browse Network. The network is not accessible."
The workgroup is the same on both machines.
Any idea what the problem is?
