Problems Enabling DMA Mode on Secondary IDE Channel (CD-Rom)

Recently I have been having some trouble with slow copying of files and installations so I checked to make sure DMA was selected for my secondary IDE which contains only my cd-rom. It was disabled, so I selected, "DMA if Available" After restarting, it is still the same. I installed the latest VIA drivers but it's still stuck in PIO Mode. My Primary IDE channel works fine, but this one won't. Any ideas on this one?

start/my computer/view system information/hardware/device manager/ide ata/atapi controllers/secondary ide controller/right click/uninstall reboot and see if that fixes it
