Problems connecting mIRC while using Zone Alarm

I've bought Zone Alarm Security Suite 6 after reading in this forum it was better than Norton.
but now, I think I'm starting to regret it... :-(

the program blocks me from connecting to mIRC ( even though I "allowed" the program to access the net)
I get messages in my server windows in mIRC reading : "Blocked by Zone Labs"

how can I remove this restriction / block / annoyance ?

it prevents the use of mIRC by default. you have to go to the settings and enable it.
its under the IM settings i believe

unfortunately, I don't have the program installed on my computer, I asked the question for a client of mine,
since I'm not familiar with the program, I'd be happy if someone posted the steps to get to that option and to enable it.
