Problems connecting Canon Powershot A60

I have the Canon Powershot A60 and when I connect it to my computer I get an error in the device manager stating: "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware because a previous instance of the device driver is still in memory. (Code 38)." I had already had the software installed and had connected the first camera that I recieved which turned out to be defected. Now when I connect my new one, I get that error. I have rebooted my computer, uninstalled and reinstalled the software and drivers. What can I do?
