Problems booting up and setting Raid 0

*i have minimal computer knowledge, i am more of a hardware person*

first off i tried to set my raid to 0 without installing my OS. i ran into problems there. well, then i tried to install my OS, but when it installs all the files, it gives me an error that says "setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer." once i got that error, i tried to get back into my BIOS, but my pc wont let me. ctrl S and f4 does not work and system goes directly to windows setup w/ disk in; or it gives me a "no boot disk error" w/o disk in. one thing it will let me do is F10 and lets me into the raid utility.

these are my setting for raid...

raid mode: striping
striping width: 2
striping block: 64k
boot: yes

i have both HD set in the "array disks." i think that i need to get in to my bios, but this pc just wont let me back in. any help is greatly aprreciated. thank you.

CPU: Intel CoreDual 6600
HD: WD74 10000
OS: Windows XP w/ SP2

You need to have the raid drivers on a floppy and hit F6 when XP setup starts. Look at the bottom as soon as you "hit any key....." to start setup and you'll see the prompt.

hmmm, ok. how would i get the raid drivers on a floppy. excuse my illiteracy.

If you didn't get a raid floppy with your mainboard you may be able to to use a utility on the mainboard cd to extract the drivers to a floppy. Worst case you can download them from the mfg's website.

i have a asus p5n32-sli premium. it didnt come with a floppy. it only came with a CD drive. i'll check it out.

ok, i've a about 6 choices to make.

nvidia 32 or 64 bit sata raid drivers
silicon image 32 bit sata or raid drivers
silicon image 64 bit sata or raid drivers

im not sure which to use/copy to a floppy.

It depends on which SATA ports you've connected to the hard drives. Check your connections and mobo manual to determine if you're using the nVidia or the Silcon Image controller. If you're using plain on WinXP, you'll need the 32-bit drivers or if using WinXP64, then you'll use the 64-bit drivers.

well, everything seemed to be installing, but then it ran in to a problem. for some reason it coulnt install a file(forgot which file). now it keeps saying that "NTLDR is missing" any idea what that is all about. thanks
